Cello help?

Ok..I need help. The on my cello has always given me issues. I have the hardest time getting a clear loud sound out of it. I get good sound out of every other string, including the C string. When I play the my bow always hits the C and D strings, and when I look down there is almost no room between the D and C strings and my bow? Help!
