Giving my name and address to an email pal?

im from northern ireland and i have this email friend in perth australia wer good friends and have been emailing each other for about 2 months she has now suggested we send each other postcards or gud luk gifts or watever is it safe to give out your name and address could it be used for ID fraud or something like that
