What does it mean if a camera has ''230K'' pixels? And if you're going to answer rudely, please go away :).?

I'm trying to find a camera that allows for 2,000 pixels per picture, and am wondering if this would complement my ''search.'' And I am looking for a point-and-shoot. not an SLR. Thanks!
