Why do so many people steadfastly refuse to even acknowledge a problem exists regarding Islam?

Our country was founded on freedom of religion but I am concerned about the human rights of Islamic women. Just today Saudi women finally are trying to get the right to drive a car. ( although don't get my husband started on women drivers) They marry those girls off at such a young age and they have to get permission from the men for almost everything. There was a 71 year old woman stoned to death for talking to a deliveryman.
